Each program will be individually designed in order to meet your fur pal’s needs based on breed, genetics and their mental development. Friendly K9 does not offer cookie cutter style programs as every dog is uniquely different.
We specialize in puppy development as this truly is the foundation that will greatly affect the transition of the next stage of development.
This is the next step in your fur pals mental and behavioral development where we teach advanced leash skills, high distraction training and advanced environmentals. We believe you and your family should be able to take your fur pal everywhere you’d like.
Reactive/Anxiety dog’s do not qualify for this program.
If your fur pal is showing signs of reactive behavior towards humans or other animals, whether you have a newly acquired rescue or a family dog there’s always an underlying root cause. Our Professional trainers will work with your fur pal in order to establish new thought processes and a better quality of life through fear free training.
Our certified trainers will work closely with your furpal to help identify triggers that are causing the anxiety and develop a personalized fear free training plan to help your furpal overcome their fears. This will involve desensitization training, counter-conditioning exercises, and teaching coping mechanisms to manage their anxiety. Your certified trainer will also provide guidance and support to your family to ensure consistency in training and help understand how to best support your once anxious dog. Through patience, positive reinforcement, and a tailored approach, your trainer aims to help your furpal build confidence and learn to navigate the world without anxiety.
Off-Leash training is a great option for those who have completed our Obedience Program and are active campers and cottagers. We believe that it’s important to establish a strong foundation of obedience before pursuing Off-Leash Training, as it requires a higher level of mental stimulation.

At Friendly K9 we believe one hour a week training methods are not the right approach to cater training to your fur pals underlying needs. Using a natural home environment in having your dog stay with the trainer, allows for us to build an emotional relationship, recognize the psychology, genetics and mental development while respecting your fur pals processing time. Using down time as an opportunity for rewarding activities and properly assessing each day throughout the program to make the necessary adjustments to your fur pals journey.
1 hour methods are often a 1 size fits all that ignores specifics and reacts to symptoms and masks underlying root causes with obedience. It takes a certified behaviorist that specializes in Neurobiology to recognize the root cause to make the connection to the behaviors to now tailor the training. This takes time and a relationship between the dog and the behaviorists that is beyond a one hour a week approach.
We believe it’s important to understand dog’s are emotional animals that rely on a working relationship. Using such fear based tools as e-collars, prong collars etc, simply mask the root cause and depreciates the dog feeling safe and secure. We are fear-free certified which has us alleviate fear, anxiety and other stresses throughout our training to protect your dog’s well-being and establish confidence through a fear – free approach.

Often dog’s become stubborn to a lack of structure that exists within the home, Having a private trainer who doesn’t know your dog will simply teach you a handful of obedience that doesn’t align to your fur pals needs. We build a foundation of recognizing your fur pal, tailoring the training to establish real results. It is upon graduation day that it’s now a fair time to engage as your fur pal has learned the tools needed for a smooth transition home. We will have a 1-on-1 handover class that focus on helping you build confidence towards your fur pal but also within yourselves to learning the tools and structure.
